Mission
Founded in 2026, Filigree Press is an independent publisher based in NYC that seeks to push back against the market’s categorizations of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, and instead publish writing that functions as a mode of attention, critical thought, and care.
Gilles Deleuze calls philosophy an antidote to stupidity, and we believe that literature ought to be one as well. As such, we seek to publish writing that resists simple classification, provokes feeling prior to our understanding why, and is greater than the sum of its parts. We seek writing that engages both conceptual rigor and formal endeavor. We seek texts that archive and speculate. Above all, we seek to champion writing in which difficulty, complexity, and obscurity are an invitation to encounter the world anew.
In addition to publishing full-length books, we publish individual texts and excerpts from longer projects in Filigree Quarterly, an online magazine dedicated to creating a platform for innovative writing, poetics, aesthetic statements, reviews, interviews, and other critical engagements.
